About the internship
The FBI Honors Internship Program is the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s flagship student programme: a full-time, paid, 10-week internship running June to August 2027 (one source gives 1 June to 6 August 2027). Interns work inside real FBI teams — the programme is open to a wide range of academic backgrounds, including STEM, intelligence, forensic science, business, languages and law — at FBI Headquarters divisions, one of the 56 field offices, or satellite campuses in Huntsville, Quantico and Pocatello. You rank up to three preferred locations when you apply.
Pay is at federal GS-4 or GS-5 level depending on your education level, as reported by a secondary source citing FBI Jobs information; the FBI’s own pages do not publish an exact dollar amount. What the FBI does publish, and what matters most for planning, is the clearance: every intern must pass the FBI’s Top Secret background investigation, which includes a drug test, fingerprinting and a polygraph, and you must be in the continental US, Hawaii or San Juan for parts of that investigation.

2 November 2026 at 11:59 PM ET, per the official FBI Jobs page checked on 28 October 2026. FBI press releases from February 2026 listed 5 March 2026 — that was the first application window for the same summer 2027 cycle, and the USAJOBS posting still carries that older date. Use the fbijobs.gov date.

CONFLICTS: (1) February 2026 FBI press releases listed a 5 March 2026 deadline — that was the first application window for this same summer 2027 cycle; the current fbijobs.gov page shows the cycle open until 2 November 2026, and the article uses that date. (2) The USAJOBS posting (job 857040400) still carries the older 5 March 2026 deadline and is not used for the date. The 1 June - 6 August 2027 dates come from one secondary source and are presented as such.
